2. Armor... A little math and mass. - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
Fine, so be it if that's your design philosophy. But they still don't have a representative amount of STRUCTURAL points either. Or shields. Or cap... Or speed. But yet they cost more per ton?

Edited by: Doc Weed on 07/08/2007 18:53:31 Originally by: Dessich Edited by: Dessich on 07/08/2007 18:37:49 Well if memory serves, surface area increases slower than volume. With that in mind, as far as armour goes BBs should hav...

4. Armor... A little math and mass. - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
Edited by: Doc Weed on 07/08/2007 18:04:02 Originally by: VB Sarge Not to get off topic too much, but it's somewhat related... If everything was balanced across all 4 races, every ship would have the same stats... Armor for size, I'd...

5. Armor... A little math and mass. - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
Originally by: Marcus Starr What about the structure? A Tristan (FF Frigate) Masses 1250 metric tons empty. It has 383 structure points. This means that roughly .304 structure points per ton. Or 3.2 metric tons of mass per Structure po...

Originally by: Tsanse Kinske Originally by: Existential Angst What does this tell us? Signature radius is just a number they made up for balance, and never thought about at all. I think I prefer their approach to game design ...

7. Armor... A little math and mass. - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
Edited by: Doc Weed on 07/08/2007 03:33:17 Check your math. On a larger GEOMETRIC body, surface area is actually smaller, so the same PROPORTION of armor by mass would give a thicker "shell". Proportionally, Cruiser and more so Battleships h...

8. Armor... A little math and mass. - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
A Tristan (FF Frigate) Masses 1250 metric tons empty. It has 440 armor points. This means that roughly .334 armor points per ton. Or 2.9 metric tons of mass per armor point. A Catalyst (DD Destroyer) Masses 1750 metric tons, empty. Has 730 armou...
